10 DAYS TO CLUB MED! (;
i was looking at the website just now and the activites they offer and i found photos of that place. oh dear, its just so gorgeous and i really cant wait.
the pool. pretty huh?
the pool at night. see, i told you its gorgeous! be jealous :) and and guess what activites they offer,
BUNGEE JUMPING! and a lot more activities like a 1,000 m2 swimming pool complex, with a jaccuzzi, the usual sports like beach volley and archery, flying trapeze, sailing and kayaking! the best part is, there is no age limit or anything so that means, even I can sail or do the flying trapeze. cool right? and plus if you get tired of doing those activites,
they have a circus inside the resort too!
ah, its so pretty and and its just ten days away. i love june holidays. last year was switzerland, france, germany and london and this year, club med! you know tong li, maybe im not that deprived after all (: i get to go to all these wonderful places. how lucky can i get?

CAMP TRAINERS!that is tiffany, our group's trainer and chicky, our buddy group's trainer.
tiffany is awesome and we love her :)
photo from ying yen's blog
we went to kranji war memorial and changi chapel & museum
in the bus, we were singing the songs from camp. ah, good days.
war memorial was really pretty but it was boring. i dont like sad places.
but changi chapel & museum was very um..interesting!
there was this note from someone on the notice board there.
it read:
"my uncle survived changi but was never the same"
something like that. it was so sad. and the handwriting was like some child's handwriting.
I think the prisoners were really smart to hide radios in their shoes and brooms.
i hate holidays. i have nothing to do at home.

IM BACK IM BACK IM BACK!missed me? :D i miss camp so badly. i want to be with group1 (laughing loony leeches) again. i want to be with those trainers. i want to do those stupid claps. i want to shower in those dirty toilets with no flushes listening to gillian sing 'you are my sunshine'. i want to sleep in those hard jail cell like beds. i want leeches on my shoes again. i want to climb up a mountain again. i want to waddle in that muddy stream again. i want to go back to 'kem kaizen'.
and im not being sarcastic
at all.
of course, its good to be back home with nice toilets and comfortable beds but i miss Pulai, Johor a lot.
those 3 days were so joyous and i really really mean it.
DAY 1reached school as usual and had assembly as usual as well. at 8.30 or something we boarded the bus to Edventure village. i was sitting with geetika and in front, there was tong li!
the bus ride was so fun. we were singing campfire song from spongebob and Barbie Girl. we spent like so so so so long at the Malaysian checkpoint but thats okay because we reached Pulai really soon. the minute we got out of the bus, we could notice the stark change. firstly, it was SO hot. hotter than singapore. and there were so many insects and weird things. but we had a bigger surprise-the dorms.
the bedding was basically just these rectangular 'beds' with no mattresses. the toilets..i shant go into details because its not worth it. they were awful. fullstop. no flushes, squatting toilets, no showerheads, water that was brownish.
okay anyway, after checking in we had ice breaking and objective setting. it was a very uhh..boring activity. but after that we had lunch!
there were 6 of us who opted for vegetarian -all of us from 2m. me, geetika, faye, tong li, charlotte and sonal.
so it was like a mini 2m gathering and meal times were always always lots of fun. the food was not bad. many non-vegetarians said that our food was nicer than their food :) all six of us took turns to bring cutlery for each other so it made us closer. mother lolaaaaaaa! haha. thats charlotte by the way.
and sam and jia visited us at times so we really had lots of fun eating.
after lunch, we had nature program. antlions, mahang plant and pitcher plant). this was another boring activity and it dragged on all the way from 2pm to 5pm!
at 6, we had dinner. followed by that, we had blind man's trail.
IT WAS SO FUN
in that pitch darkness, we climed up this hill-like thing and when we reached the finishing point, the sky was awesome. there werre so many stars and it was peaceful and quiet. it was a real forest! how cool is that. i was in a REAL forest!
it was my first time seeing so many stars. in singapore, seeing stars is such a rare thing because its such a brightly lit country.
blind man's trail was 2 hours long and i was very exhausted.
we had supper, debrief and then lights off at close to 11.
DAY 2it was a wonderful day. really really wonderful. after breakfast, we left for waterfall expedition.
we were given a compass and we had to navigate our way to the waterfall. it was really hot and the journey to the waterfall was like 2 hours long or something. or even more. we walked a lot! but once we entered the jungle, it became cooler. however, the slopes were extremely slippery and i slipped and fell so many times. mgs has very nice people and i always always
always had help. then we reached the waterfall. we all went in. it was so freezing cold inside but it was so refreshing. and we all splashed water at each other and oh my, it was just awesome. lots and lots of fun! we spent only around 20 minutes at the waterfall though and we had to leave the place. but this time, we had to go through the jungle to get out.
i fell more times but the worst part was leeches. there were these 2 gigantic, humongous, slimy, icky, wicky leeches on my shoe. ray wern flicked them off for me. thank god i didnt get a leech bite. but actually they arnt that bad. there is no pain or anything
but the trek back was VERY tiring and i almost died. but i did it. we all did it. yay!
when we got back to the campsite, we had lunch. after that we had to build a raft and had back woods man cooking. back woods man cooking was so funny. i was making a jungle doughnut and it never cooked. we all ended up eating just dough! haha. after that, we had a proper nice dinner.
then was group discussion. in my learning task group was eva, ray wern, sandra, eunice and michelle.
its a very very very nice group. sandra is so cute and funny!:)
after that we showered and had supper and then slept.
it was a very long day but it was a lot of fun.
DAY 3it wa the bestest day of all the days. we did the best things and i enjoyed myself so much. first, we had water trekking. it was something like the waterfall expedition just that we trekked all the way to the top of gunung pulai. its a mountain so that means its above 600m!
we climed all the way up and most of it, we had to waddle in that dirty muddy water. i fell a lot more times and i got loads of bruises. even 2 splinters that are still on my finger.
but the accomplishment you feel at the top is really great. after water trek we had outdoor cooking for lunch. Sherwood and No Man's land was followed by that. those were 2 best things of the camp. The obstacles were SO fun. i fell into the water a lot of times especially during monkey bar and that log crossing. but it was really a lot of fun and group 1 is very supportive. everybody cheers for everybody even if we dont know each other very well.
it ended all too soon and at 5, we prepared for campfire and then went for dinner. we had bbq dinner and the food was just great. the real camp fire was at 8. our group and our buddy group planned a very nice cheer but sadly, it wasnt a success. haha! but the campfire was still very nice with lots of songs and cheers and the usual campfire things.
the stars were so bright once again and i enjoyed myself so much.
we slept at close to 12.15. that campfire marked the end of all the activities in camp :(
DAY 4which is today by the way. the very last day of camp.
GROUP 1 GOT 'MOST ENTHUSIASTIC GROUP'! see, i told you we we're an awesome group.
we left Kem Kaizen at around 10.30. it was just so saddening to leave that place. it left me with so many wonderful memories and new friends.
but then again, I got to be with 2m again. i missed 2m a lot.
we boarded the bus to Kelong for lunch. it was supposedly a seafood lunch but the six of us didnt eat the seafood of course. we got special food. really really nice food. i ate a lotttt! and we also got coke. coke after so long was so nice. and the view from there was so pretty. and we took a really nice 'vegetarian' photo. haha! meaning, all of us from the vegetarian table (excluding tong li and sonal)
then the bus ride back to school. it was so depressing to be back in singapore. singapore is too nice. i want to live in that dirty place because its where you can have real fun. its not everyday we get to climb mountains and walk in jungles and have leeches on our shoes right?
all good things must come to an end and camp is over.
here i am, back in singapore now with all the comfort but i miss that place a lot. i miss everything. i just want to go back there. i wouldnt mind at all!
i've gotten used to living there.
tomorrow we still have school. the last day of semester 1.
gee, time flies. one entire semester is over. soon, i'll be in sec 3. ah well. next year we have OBS.
hopefully, its as fun as Edventure camp.
Edventure camp. its nice even to say it.
goodbye now. i need to go to the doctor to get my splinters out.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FANG TING!<3i love you my dear fang er jie jie :D thank you for teaching me so so many chinese words. i forgot most of it now but i wont forget you. happy fourteen!
three days to camp. i packed a little today and i plan to finish packing tomorrow. i really really cant wait.
school was fun. we watched my fair lady during LA. eliza doolittle is adorable and the movie is awesome. i watched it when i was really young and that time, i didnt understand the movie at all but today i understood it fully and i loved it. and we also had geog presentation. our group was so horrible and we're going to do badly only because of me. sorry hydroponics group :(
then during gel there was that student forum thing. klarissa is so cute. haha! her overhead bridge idea was really good and sensible.
after school, went for ics.
i was so bored and tired throughout.
its no fun without sharanyaaaaa. why oh why didnt you come today my friend? :(
anyway, i'll probably blog after i get back from camp.
or maybe on sunday, before i leave.
but in case i dont, i'll say my final goodbye now.
i hope i dont die or something during camp but who cares even if i do? camp will be lots of fun!
and shruti, have fun in turkey. you're a very lucky girl, you know?
so yes, once again, goodbye.

Oh my, bowling was so fun. haha i have hidden talent!
the first game i got 2 strikes! Two strikes : D
and mind you, today was my first time bowling.
second game i got lots of gutters but the third game i got another strike although my score was only sixty nine i think.
but at the end of the day, i loved every bit of bowling. oh and i love my lane-mate too! so supportive :)
and the bus ride/train ride back home was even better.
there were six of us taking train home and so we had to take a bus to redhill mrt station first.
xiang had the directions but she lost it :/
so we just followed a bus and we found the bus stop! smart right?
then we took the first bus that came.
there were very very funny people in the bus and we all became friends with this old lady. she was so sweet!
and later we took a train (me, elena, michelle and ariel)
the train ride was funny too! haha. our laughter was a leetle too loud. or maybe it was just me.
but anyway, i loved today so much.
and sam still has my jacket. oh please remember to give it to me tomorrow because i need to pack it for camp.
talking about camp, its only four days away!
yay :) life is good. very good.
Saturday, May 12, 2007, 10:19 PM
only nine more days and im off to Edventure Village at Sri Gunung Pulai Jalan Bakar 81500 Pekan Nenas-Johor, West Malaysia.
i bought all my things today!:D yayyyy im dying of excitement.
no, im not some freak looking forward to living at a weird rainforest; jungle-like place with dorms like some jail cell, with beds filled with lizard eggs and toilets that may not have a good flushing system and leeches in the waterfalls and the mud and the dirt and the insects and the sun and the food for 4 days and 3 entire nights. I probably wont get any sleep at all and will die of some leech disease or lizard egg disease. im not some spoilt kid who cannot survive if theres no air con or if i get a mosquito bite but its still a freaky thought.
and yet, im excited.
maybe being exposed to all these scary things will be fun. and i have a nice group :) i should be thankful at least i know people in my group. people like sam dont know anybody in their group. and i know i'll have fun.
im very exicted about the 2hr bus ride actually. im sitting with geetika.
geetikaaa we shall have fun in the bus okay? :D
next week will be great and it will fly and it'll be the weekend and the weekend will end so soon and on monday, i'll leave.
yeehaw!
im so happy today, god knows why.
Wednesday, May 09, 2007, 4:04 PM
thank god i didnt get lowest or anything for both papers. im actually happy with my marks. its horrible but for someone who has forever been horrible in science, i think i did well!:D i still remember failing science in primary 4. haha that was so stupid but in psle i got an A. which is really good right? and i think its a high A because if not, i wouldnt have gotten into mgs.
and maybe tong li's right about me being sunshine girl. i really really cannot get myself to feel sad.
but i shall stop talking about mid years. its over anyway and i have happier things to think about. like that environment oratory competition which I was nominated for. thank you thank you! haha -shows off-
no dont get me wrong, im not really that egoistic. i just want to make it clear that mrs lee didnt call me out of class to scold me -.-
its not really the competition im looking forward to. its the tree part. you see, by just participating, mgs gets a tree and the tree gets a certificate with details about my tree. so mgs gets a tree because of me! i think that is really really cool. now, i'll forever be remembered in mgs :)
i have nothing to do today-no homework, no tests, no nothing. oh joy! isnt life great?
there was one more part to this entry but chang made me delete it. it was basically about clement. oh well, i'll be faithful to chang and not write anything about clement here. rest in peace 'part of this blog entry'. oh and dont get your imaginations running wild. clement is a nobody.
Tuesday, May 08, 2007, 8:50 PM
today has been good to me. tomorrow wont.
science papers! :( we're getting results tomorrow
2m is so crazy. the highest for life science is 58/60
i mean, how retardedly high is that. and the lowest is 37/60 which is still a B. and this 37/60 is like the average of most other classes.
i think i got lowest. oh dear. 2m is so pressurising. i dont like being in 2m! true, the people in 2m are lovely but everybody is just so smart except meeee.
and if thats not enough, theres geog test on agriculture. ahh theres so much to learn. PIVOT, P(cube)H. oh my
plus the LA powerpoint. its supposed to be a fun thing but its seriously annoying.
oh by the way, after eons im talking to shruti on msn now.
shruti, stop being an emo child! you're always suffering from some depression. haha no no that shouldnt be the way.
because, i love shruti! shruti is my beeeeeeeest friend. haha you heard that shruti? i love you.
excluding wednesday, i know the rest of the week will be wonderful. thurs is the history museum thing and friday is the camp briefing!:D
saturday, i'll see cowboy again.
to sharanya thiru: no, i do not like cowboy. i just adore his cowboy-ness. when i said that 'i love cowboy a teeny weeny bit more than just his dress sense', i meant that i like the way he walks like a cowboy and looks like a cowboy as well. you sicko little person jumped to conclusions on your own. i repeat, i do not like cowboy okay? :)
Sunday, May 06, 2007, 7:46 PM
i was watching one part of 'An inconvenient truth' on youtube just now and it led me to thinking about animals being killed for food. god knows why i suddenly thought about animals when the video was basically about global warming but the fact is, you humans are selfish; you humans who eat animals. just for your pleasure, just for that one so-called mouth watering bite of pig flesh or cow flesh or chicken flesh. you humans are stupid actually. very stupid. you are just completely ignorant of the fact that you are committing such a huge sin.
how many of you are aware that cows and pigs cry before they are slaughtered. i repeat-they cry.
many a times, you animal-eating humans just think that these animals have no feelings, they carry no joy or sadness and its o.k to kill them, its o.k to separate them from their loved ones and its o.k to make them suffer every single second of their lives. yes, i emphasise on 'every single second of their lives'. they arnt just happily running around for a gazillion years of their life and then one fine day, get killed. the very second they're born, their suffering begins.
Why?
just so that you omnivores are happy. look at these pigs for example.
Pigs are sociable, playful, and emotional animals with high intelligence level but guess what happens to them? Close to 100 million pigs are raised and slaughtered just in the U.S. every year. As babies, they are subjected to painful mutilations without anesthesia or pain relievers. The piglets' tails are cut off to minimize tail biting. Oh and they
dont bite of their tails because they are retarded or anything. Its because these highly intelligent animals cannot stand it when kept in deprived factory farm environments. In addition, notches are taken out of the piglets' ears for identification. Painful already? This is just the starting.
At 2 to 3 weeks of age, the piglets are taken away from their mothers, by which time, approximately 15% will have died. The surviving piglets are crowded into pens with metal bars and concrete floors.
The pigs endure overcrowded confinement buildings for their entire lives, until they reach a slaughter weight of 250 pounds at 6 months of age. Look at the picture above for a clearer example.Modern breeding sows are treated like piglet making machines. Living a continuous cycle of impregnation and birth, the sows each have more than 20 piglets per year. After being impregnated, the sows are confined in small pens or metal gestation crates which are just 2 feet wide. At the end of their 4 month pregnancy, they are transferred to farrowing crates to give birth. The sows barely have room to stand up and lie down, and many suffer from sores on their shoulders. They are denied straw bedding and forced to stand and lie on hard floors.
After giving birth and nursing their young for two to three weeks, the piglets are taken away to be fattened, and the sow is
re impregnated. When the sow is no longer deemed a productive breeder, she is sent to slaughter.
These pigs are hung upside down by their back legs and bled to death at the slaughterhouse. As they are hung upside down, some pigs lose their conscious. However, the conscious pigs hanging upside down, kick and struggle, while a slaughterhouse worker tries to 'stick' them in the neck with a knife. If the worker is unsuccessful, the pig will be carried to the next station on the slaughterhouse assembly line, the scalding tank, where he/she will be boiled alive.
[information from
www.da4a.org/pigs.htm ; modified by me]
isnt this unfair? god
didnt create them to die and suffer and be slaughtered/boiled to death. They were created to enjoy life like we human beings do. Oh and i bet you all cant be bothered because animals taste really good,
dont they? And that is all that matters right? Selfish, plain selfish. what if you were a pig or a cow? Just think about it. Being boiled to death. i mean,
doesnt just the thought of it make you cringe?
Well, maybe animals do taste good. I
dont know, because
i've never tried and i
dont wish to try as well but there are always substitutes available like mock meat. Why cant you just eat those? Is it that important that you make those innocent animals go through so much of suffering?
Its dinner time- i bet many of you are eating a chicken or a cow or a pig or a duck or a fish now.
Think about those poor creatures when you take your next bite.
Do they deserve all that suffering? I believe not.
Adopt vegetarianism and you wont regret. good night (:

Dear friend,
maybe i never really realised how much you mean to me. you play such a huge role in my life. maybe you'll never ever know how much i love you and how much i need you in my life. thank you for all those awesome days. i never really tell you but you know, you're one of my greatest friends ever. you have so many friends and perhaps you're too busy for me but i dont care. i love you and thats all that matters for now.
debate was wonderful today. go anisha, go patricia, go ainiah, go minerva and go jessica! (: you guys are great. oh and go sharanya! you're great too, as a friend and as a role-model. haha and thank you for the gummy bears.
i cant wait for finals. then i'll get to see cowboy again. actually i cant be bothered about cowboy. cowboy just has a great dress sense.
i just finished the first question of the plotting quadratic graphs worksheet. i took an hour to do it but im really proud of my graph. its the neatest i've ever done. oh well goodbye now.
Friday, May 04, 2007, 9:12 PM
sigh. im tired. long long week. debate, debate and debate. i'll blog properly another day. goodbye.
Wednesday, May 02, 2007, 8:47 PM
debate was so screwed which made it funny. jessica's speech was 2min 30 secs without the POIs. ainiah's speech was just the opposite. it was so long that she had no time for one entire substantive. and my speech was just stupid, as usual. haha my first time being 3rd speaker okay! i had 2 foolscap papers and 2 notebooks with points scattered all over with ainiah/sadhika's really unreadble handwriting. ainiah wrote practically everything in 'twit' language. as in she wrote 'hate' as h8 and all. seriously, i couldnt read it AT ALL. and sadhika's handwriting was so teeny weeny i couldnt read it as well. and we thought we had this brilliant policy on meet the people sessions but neha and gayle thought otherwise :/ ah well!
debate finished relatively early-6.40pm
the school was close to empty once again. oh i love it when its like that.
oh alethea if you actually even bother reading my blog, please take note that you have to bring thumbdrive tomorrow for PW. you didnt even reply my sms! :( i sent you that message despite being so hungry and tired you know? im such a wonderful PW leader and you just ignore me. go and die la you. haha.
